You can love Australia for many many different reasons.
We are the lucky country.
Un touched coast lines...
Vast open plains and succulent rain forests...
Whether you have had to travel abroad to realise this, or it's something you breathe in every day...
I'm a mix of both...
I have travelled and no matter how much I say the MGM in Vegas could be my new home, I know I'd miss good old Newcastletown. I also think and breath this on a daily basis... having the ability to have a roof over my head, easy access to fresh food and cruise to work each day without the worry of roadside bombs...
However...
On this last day of 2011...
I had a moment...
A rare flinch of what I may love more than Australia itself!
Australians!
Seriously!
We are hysterical!
When you think about the Chinese you think how disciplined they are.
The Croats - how Crazy they are.
The Polish - how good their Vodka is.
When you think about Australian's...
How can you not laugh?
We're quite OK with wearing our sunglasses anywhere on our heads. They do not just have to sit on top of our heads or covering our eyes. We like to wear them on the back of our necks, hanging underneath our chins and even backwards on our heads!
We believe we are THE sporting nation: However when we re-cap 2011... Unless you rode a bike (well done Casey and Cadel) or are Grand Slam Sam, we were a nation of chokers this year! So all you blokey blokes that rock around in Cricket tee's, Wallaby jerseys and Adidas Socceroos kits, stop it! It would be like wearing your old hyper colour tee out in public. IT'S OLD NEWS, it's embarrassing seeing you, let alone being you.
Some how a large chuck of the Australian female population think VPL's (visible pantie lines) are now OK. Ummmm... NO, they are not... You need to realise that wearing full briefs under tights simply makes anybody near you look straight at your arse... and unless you have an arse like Elle McPherson... it's not a good look... And, yep, you guessed it... Everybody who looks at your arse thinks it's funny... and yet we keep heading out in public dressed like that.
We go NUTs for Boxing Day sales... When in reality the sales only start on Boxing Day.. And last until the New year. Go figure??!?! We feel we MUST get to those Boxing Day Sales! Reckon the Africans are doing the same on Boxing Day??!?!
However when it comes to New Years Eve, we're all over the necessary last minute shopping... No need for Woollies, the bakery or any fresh produce... We get our trolleys into Dan Murphy's and go nuts! Golly gosh the shops will be closed for a full day tomorrow so lets stock up on the essentials!
We, the peeps of Australia somehow voted in a blood nut to run the country. C'mon, that's funny within itself. Ever seen another red head run a country??? The Yanks voted in a black man and they thought that was a feat!
We must have the largest sleeve tattoo count per ca pita...
Mix this in with need to abbreviate our own abbreviated form of the English language
"Yeman" is not another country, it is short for "yer man"
Totes short for "Totally"
Dits short for "Ditto" "
Slab it up" is short for grab another case of beer"
One of our top rating and funniest comedian's is Carl Barron. He has made a profession out of us laughing at him... Saying next to nothing! The guy just stands there, looks awkward... and we cack ourselves!
We also laugh at Kath and Kim... believing they are the stretched and animated version of an Australian... Have you been to the local shopping centre lately??!?! Or your neighbours place!!?!?
